Glass Cockpit Simulation

G1K Simulator Hardware

Project information

Software

The software for our G1000 sim is open source. This way, everybody can use it freely and change it. It is for private as well as commercial applications and is free of charge. Additionally, you'll need the Flight Simulator software which, of course, is not free. At this time the G1000 sim emulates a normal keyboard. Even the controls to adjust the radio send control 'clicks' to the PC. Since the sim is easily programmable, it can be freely customized. Reprogramming is done through the USB port.

Hardware

The housing is entirely powder coated stainless steel with screen-printed labels, so it should last a long time! The 10" monitor has a resolution of 600 x 800. The circuit boards are double-sided and interconnected. The four microprocessors provide great flexibility.

Circuit Points

Control of the G1000 is accomplished through USB and VGA. It is the CAN-Bus that is the interface. It allows the sim to use a central control unit. With the CAN-Bus, one can develop additional controls for an aircraft with very little effort.
